Over the past few months, there’s been a global surge in online security risks; particularly phishing scams, spoofed emails, and identity impersonation. As the Black Fleet Network™ grows and becomes more active across sectors, it's critical that we all take steps to protect ourselves, our businesses, and each other.
Why This Matters
Cybercriminals are getting smarter and faster, often using AI tools to craft emails and messages that look shockingly real. These attacks are no longer just targeting big corporations. Small businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs are increasingly in the firing line, especially when we’re connected to high-value networks like BFN.
The Risks We’re Seeing
Fake emails that appear to come from colleagues or suppliers
Requests for sensitive information (banking details, login credentials)
Links that install malware or track user behavior
Email addresses impersonating BFN or your company’s members or leadership
The rise of these attacks during known payment periods

What You Can Do Right Now
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Whether you're using Gmail, Outlook, or another service, 2FA adds an extra layer of protection.
Double-check the sender: Always verify email addresses, even if the name looks familiar.
Slow down before you click: Phishing relies on urgency. Pause, check, and verify.
Update your passwords: Use strong, unique passwords and change them regularly.
Speak up: If something feels off, let your team or us know. Better safe than sorry.
Triple check: Especially ahead of making payments, sharing invoices, etc. No harm picking up the phone to make sure all is above board before transacting!
BFN’s COMMITMENT
We’re conducting regular audits of our systems and accounts to ensure data safety and minimize vulnerabilities. We’re also tightening access protocols and will continue to provide practical tools and guidance to support members in staying secure.
Need Help?
If you're unsure about any email or digital communication you've received, or you’d like support in setting up 2FA or improving your digital hygiene, reach out to me or anyone on the BFN leadership team. We’re here to help.
This is about protecting our collective growth. Let’s all stay sharp and support each other!
