About the Event
Exavious (Za) Farley - founder of Black Fleet Network - is running the Selma to Montgomery Relay with two friends along the 51-mile stretch of Hwy 80, through the Black Belt region of south central Alabama. This historic route spans the harrowing journey of thousands of Black folks and allies who suffered ridicule and violent opposition while marching to secure Black American citizens', long overdue, fundamental right to vote.
Ten toes down for BFN and his people, Za is committing to this race as an active effort and relevant symbol of his persistence toward a transformative goal – one that fuels equity and bolsters support. We’re running this relay on this stretch of highway because those who traversed it before us laid everything on the line for our good. It’s our turn now - to shoulder the responsibility of building a better world for those who are coming behind us. The least we can do is lace up our running shoes. The goal is to raise $10,000 for every mile the team runs.
$510,000 toward BFN's mission.
From this collective effort, BFN is committed to continuing the work that develops and dignifies the Black professionals who manufacturer, drive, repair vehicles, enable emergency services, push for environmental justice, manage government fleets, power social initiatives and lead mobility progress across sectors. We’re building a sustainable path forward through an engine of change that seeks to flip the narrative of ‘underserved’ to fully supported. The time is now. And we want you to tread this journey with us. Because together is the only way.
Spread the word. Let’s get this done.
